It has been announced that local authorities are to cut back on their social care departments and this has set alarm bells off right across the country. Many people argue that this is one area that should be financially protected, after all, the number of people requiring home care is only ever on the rise as our population ages and more and more people are diagnosed with disabilities.
Apparently, people with moderate care needs may no longer qualify for assistance through the local social services department. This is a very worrying decision and will depend even more heavily on how local authorities set the criteria and tests that will determine the level of needs.
My question here is if the local social services department leaves a person with moderate needs entirely to their own devices, how long will it be before Judicial Reviews and other legal actions are taken against these public bodies? (more...)
